I’ve been waiting for the line-up for this year’s Bonnaroo since I left Manchester, TN last June. Finally, the day has arrived that the artists are announced … in a very special way. Check out their MySpace page for a new artist listed every 6 minutes (way to tease us and distract us from work). Once Weezer and the Flaming Lips playing Darkside of the Moon were posted, I was sold … though I doubt anything will compare to my first Phish shows from last year. I’m also really stoked about some of the female acts listed (Norah Jones, Regina Spektor, and Ingrid Michaelson). Oh and O K Go was just added – wonder if they’ll bring the treadmills? Can’t wait to see who’s headlining! I’ll post the full lineup tomorrow. I’ve got my ticket, anyone else going?

The Colors Duke, the Colors!
February 4, 2010 · Leave a Comment
Color Theory was one of those classes that I always considered taking during design school, but it never quite fit into the schedule. Well thanks to Smashing Magazine, I have gotten a mini crash course in current color theory. SM has created a 2 part series on their website all about the greater meaning behind the colors we choose, complete with great current examples. Even if you’re not a designer, I think you’ll really find these posts interesting because you’ll start to notice these ideas in everywhere you look!

6 More Weeks?
February 2, 2010 · Leave a Comment
Thanks to America’s most famous rodent (rivaled by those in Disney cartoons) it has been determined we’ll have 6 more weeks of winter (see the official decree below). I actually may believe the the little guy this year after the major snowstorm we just had this past weekend. If you want more information on the history behind the groundhog, check out this National Geographic article
Phil’s official forecast as read February 2nd, 2009 at sunrise at Gobbler’s Knob:
Hear Ye Hear Ye Hear Ye
On Gobbler’s Knob on this glorious Groundhog Day, February 2nd, 2010, Punxsutawney Phil, Seer of Seers, Prognosticator of all Prognosticators awoke to the call of President Bill Deeley and greeted his handlers, John Griffiths and Ben Hughes.
After casting a joyful eye towards thousands of his faithful followers, Phil proclaimed, “If you want to know next, you must read my text. As the sky shines bright above me, my shadow I see beside me. So six more weeks of winter it will be.”

“Hate advertising? Make better ads.” – Doug Pray
I had caught wind of this movie several months ago when someone passed me the trailer. Next week I’ll finally get to check it out thanks to my local AIGA chapter. This film, directed by Doug Pray, addresses the great and gritty that is the modern advertising industry. You’ll get interviews from the folks behind everything from presidential campaigns to the well known Got Milk? It definitely looks colorful and interesting and I just can’t wait! I hope if you live in the area, you’ll come out and if you don’t check the Art & Copy website for a screening near you.

It’s Tablet Day!
January 27, 2010 · Leave a Comment
I have to confess that I’m a total Mac “fanboy” … er girl, so I am totally stoked that Steve Jobs is supposedly unveiling what is being called the most important thing he’s ever done – Yes, today the Mac Tablet is being unveiled (we hope). Apple is holding a product event out in San Francisco starting at 10:00am PT and it is rumored that this will include much anticipated Mac Tablet. I will definitely be tuning in to the guys at TWIT.tv (I love you Leo) and checking in with MacWorld as the event plays out today. I’m really interested to see what market they are catering this thing to and where the price point hits. Who’s ready for some shiny, new technology?

As Haiti has now suffered its second major earthquake within a week, aid is needed there more than ever. I know I posted the links for how to give below, but if you’re in the mood to give a little and get a little check out the Signature Jack T-shirt from Playclothes. All proceeds go to Wyclef’s Yele Haiti foundation. You can also purchase Yele Haiti t-shirts and many other products on yele.org that support the relief effort.

Unless you’ve been cut off from all news sources this week, you’ve heard about the devastating earth quake that rocked Haiti. Check out Rachel Maddow’s comprehensive list of organizations that you can donate to and help the people of Haiti during this time of great need. Pistilli Roman
January 12, 2010 · Leave a Comment
I used to play this game with my college roommate we called “Name that Font.” While watching TV, we’d analyze commercials and show intros, trying to be the first to guess which font was used. Yes, I know I’m a geek. Needless to say, I love typefaces and was so excited when a friend passed me the latest interactive quiz from legendary design firm, Pentagram. Based on your answers about four personality questions, the font afficionado determines which typeface best represents you. Mine was Pistilli Roman (totally fitting), what’s yours?
Check out the ‘What Type Are You’ test.
